Safety and OSHA Compliance Training
OSHA 10 and 30 hour - Construction Safety and Health Awareness Course
This course is designed as a basic training program for construction safety and health awareness for the construction industry. Special emphasis is placed on those topics that are specific to the electrical industry and being most hazardous, using the 29 CFR 1910.269 as well as 29 CFR 1926 as a guide. Instructional techniques, as well as effective use of visual aids and handouts are used. Topics to be covered include OSHA inspection procedures, safety training programs, hazard communication and health hazards, personal protective equipment, fire prevention and protection, materials handling, tools, welding, electrical, fall protection, confined space entry, shoring and trenching. A certification card is issued upon completion of the training. The maximum number of participants is 30 per class.
Fall Protection Awareness - 4 hours
This course provides an overview of state-of-the-art technology for fall protection and current OSHA requirements. Course features demonstration of different types of fall protection equipment. Topics covered during the training include principles of fall protection and limitations of fall arrest equipment. The maximum number of participants is 30 per class.
Pole Top and Bucket Truck Rescue - 4-6 hours
The reaction to emergencies can be life or death situations. Pole top and bucket truck rescue training teaches the skills necessary to save another persons life. The course includes classroom training and actual hands-on experience. Both pole top and bucket rescue operations require dynamic action by the individuals of our industry. The rigging, lifting, and lower skills necessary to get the victim down from elevated heights is trained and practiced. This rescue training meets OSHA requirements for rescue instruction. A certification card, good for one year, is issued after the completion for both training sessions. The maximum number of participants is 10 to 15 per class.
Bucket Truck Training - 4 hours / Digger Truck Training - 4 hours / Altec Sentry Program
This training program provides rules and practices of operation of Bucket and Digger truck operation. Some areas covered during the sessions include machine operations, safety procedures, load charts, hand signals and transportation. The course is not Altec specific but deals mainly with OSHA compliance. The result of the training fulfills OSHA requirements of compliance and qualifies competent persons under OSHA standards. Participants receive a certificate of completion from Altec. The course information can be offered in two ways; classroom setting and/or self directed computer-based training. With either method, participants are tested on the information covered. Practical operation training is done as a group. The maximum number of participants is 12 to 15 per machine.
First Aid Training (Coyne) - 4 hours
This course prepares the participants in basic First Aid training. After the completion of this course, the participants will be certified in First Aid for three years. Cards are issued to the participants after the course is completed. Coyne First Aid has been officially accepted by the US. Department of Labor - Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) as accredited training. This course will cover the essential steps of basic first aid procedures. The goal of this is to have participants become able to competently perform the procedures of basic first aid in emergency situations. The training places a special emphasis on the need for safe work practices both at home and on the job. The course teaches how to render basic First Aid for wounds/bleeding, shock, fractures, burns, eye injuries, fainting and diabetic emergencies, drug overdose/poisoning, seizures, temperature related problems, insect stings/bites, snakebites, and emergency transport of victims. The maximum number of participants is 10 to 12 per instructor.
CPR and Automated External Defibrillation AED Training (Coyne) - 4 hours
This course will cover the essential steps of basic CPR and AED procedures. After completion of this course, the participants will be certified in CPR and AED procedures for one year. Cards are issued to the participants after the course is completed. The training has been officially accepted by the US. Department of Labor - Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The goal of this course is to have each participant become aware of the benefits of following a healthy lifestyle and to be able to competently perform the following: (1) Rescue Breathing (2) One Rescuer CPR (3) Emergency procedures for an Obstructed Airway (Heimlich maneuver) for both conscious and unconscious adults and AED operations. Also included in the training are recognizing and first aid procedures for Angina Pectoris, Stroke and Near Drowning. The training reinforces the need for safe work practices both at home and on the job. The maximum number of participants is 10 to 12 per instructor.
Equipotential Grounding - 8 hours
The course introduces Grounding for the protection of employees, CFR 1910.269 paragraph n under the OSHA standard. Qualified employees under the standard who work on or around energized conductors are trained how to establish an equipotential zone of safety. By the uses of a PowerPoint presentation and a test simulator, the participants are shown how to create a safe deengerized line and how to install new lines safely within the OSHA standard description. The training also includes how to test lines before installing grounds and the order of connection and removal of the grounds with the proper procedure. The maximum number of participants is 30 per class.
